You can see that this is the correct institute from google maps because they have photos of the construction site of their new buildings on both google maps and their website. But after browsing endlessly on their church and the TCA website, there is no mention of New Covenant University, New Covenant International University or Kevin Dyson.

Name It and Frame It? is a 1993 book by Steve Levicoff about Christian schools. He explores the accreditation process, good and bad institutions of higher learning. This work has four different editions, which contain updated information and responses from various groups. In the preface of the third edition Levicoff wrote about the book, “administrators at legitimately accredited Christian schools loved it, but the operators of degree mills weren’t too pleased.”
There are some very impressive ministry college names in the list in his book. The one that caught my eye was, ‘New Covenant International Theological Seminary‘, which is supposedly located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Thank you Steve Levicoff!

How can I tell if a school is a diploma mill?
- They often have names similar to well-known colleges or universities, but fail to mention an accrediting agency or name a fake accrediting agency.
- The organization frequently changes addresses, sometimes moving from state to state.
- Written materials typically include numerous spelling and grammatical errors, sometimes on the diploma itself.
- Overemphasis on the speed and brevity with which someone can receive a degree (e.g. “Call now and have your degree shipped to you overnight!”).
- Degrees can be earned in far less time than normal (e.g. 27 days) or the diploma is printed with a specific backdate.
- There is no selectivity in admissions, or any questions about previous test scores or detailed academic history.
- No interaction with professors or faculty (e.g. only two emails are received from a professor).
- Degree requirements are vague or unspecified, lacking class descriptions and without any mention of how many credit hours are required to complete a program.

There are a number of well researched sources that document that New Covenant International University is yet another diploma mill.
“This is a legal religious educational institution in the state of Florida in the USA. The Florida Statutes 1005.6 (f) states that, “A religious college may operate without governmental oversight”.
That means you can start up an university to teach black magic in Florida as long as the rules in Statutes 1005.6 is followed. You can give out Ph.D in Voodoo or Ph.D in Bomoh, if you like. Though being legally instituted by the state of Florida, that alone does not guarantee the recognition of the institution’s degrees in other states of the USA and other countries. Such recognition comes through ‘accreditation’. That means the master’s degrees and doctorates provided by institutions which are accredited and those which are not are qualitatively different.
The accreditation body that guarantees the quality of higher education in Florida is the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Theological seminaries and Christian universities like Asbury Theological Seminary and Baylor University are accredited by the body. And New Covenant International University & Theological Seminary is not in the accreditation list.
Simply said, those without accreditation is free to grant degrees without ensuring academic competency and so the certificates are not recognized. The implication is that those people who got their degrees and doctorates from unaccredited institutions cannot use the title “Dr.” in their referent, or even if they use it, it is a fake “Dr.”, like calling a woman without a child under her care as “mother”.
Now you may be wondering why am I highlighting the New Covenant International University & Theological Seminary. That is because the institution’s president Kevin Dyson was here earlier this year giving a series of talks on relationship at City Harvest Church. And lo and behold, our local charismatic Kong Hee’s Master of Divinity (M.Div) and Doctor of Theology (D.Th) are from Dyson’s institution. If he really wants a good quality theological education degree, he can get them from local seminaries and theological colleges. There are plenty which are accredited here. Don’t have to get from a dubious institution in Florida. But if he prefer overseas degrees, he should opt for places like Asbury or Baylor”. In summary:
1: Be wary of any Doctorate earned in the US – especially Florida. 2: Do your own research
3: Ask for a copy of Dr Phil’s transcript and ask any University in Australia whether they would recognize it
3: Be extremely wary of anything a megachurch Pastor tells you!

- So Phil Pringle for the last few years has been asking his staff and students to call him Dr Phil.
- Pringle has used his ‘Doctorate’ to promote and advertise his ministry and ministry colleges.
- Phil Pringle is on a board of members where he seems to know the president of the NCI University & Theological Seminary, Kevin Dyson.
- Kevin Dyson DID have an educational institution in Florida, which later moved off the property.
- Kevin Dyson also gave Kong Hee a Master’s and Doctorate in theology.
Maybe it is worth to take Steve Levicoff’s advice from his book, ‘Name It and Frame It’. If the book was released in 1993, it already exposes the sad credentials of Kong Hee. With Pringle it is more questionable. There is no sign whatsoever that the Seminary is now endorsed as an accredited educational facility. Since Pringle gained his doctorate in 1999, the chances are incredibly high that it is not legitimate.
What adds further weight to it’s illegitimacy is the fact that Pringle only promoted his credentials only a few times. The second time I found he used his doctorate credentials, he was too vague to explain where he got them, what he got them for and who gave them to him. Even if he knows his doctorate is meaningless, why would he not promote people to call him ‘Doctor’ anyway?

C3 Church Watch 
This is a good post. I am currently undertaking PhD studies, via the University of Sydney. Let me tell you first-hand, it is a rigorous enough process being admitted,let alone beginning the PhD itself. For starters, you need to have completed:
1 – A Bachelors Degree. This is typically 3-4 years of undergraduate study at a recognized institution.
2 – A Masters degree. Usually 1.5-2 years of postgraduate research work, or it can be undertaken as coursework, provided you then undertake additional post-grad study on top. Again, this needs to be undertaken at recognized institutions.
3 – You must submit a compelling research proposal. This outlines to the faculty your project scope and specifics and articulates how you will be making an “original contribution” to the wider body of knowledge within your chosen academic field. If the faculty has “heard it before” or if there is little evidence of originality, you can forget the application proceeding beyond this point.
All told, there needs to be around the 4.5 – 6 years worth of study prior to even applying, or considering application for a PhD. So in the first instance, one must ask themselves where Phil Pringle has completed all of the above? Good question.
Any institution admitting students who have not undertaken the above should not be taken seriously.
Secondly, published academic writing and PhD dissertations are held in high regard and as such, are subject to being “peer reviewed.” This means that the authors work is scrutinized and critiqued thoroughly before proceeding further. Everything is analyzed, from appropriate referencing to your use of arguments to general grammar and writing style. We must therefore ask – who undertook to review Dr. Pringle’s thesis? And what qualifications do they have?
If Phil Pringle does indeed have a doctorate, I imagine that his thesis would be of the 100,000+ word figure, a substantial work by any standard. Those who have gone to the trouble of earning a doctorate will usually publish their thesis being that the whole M.O here is to make a contribution to the wider body of knowledge. Is there a publication from Dr. Pringle that would be of this standard and length?
At the very least, a copy of Dr. Pringle’s thesis should be available from the institution, upon request.
Bill, Pringle dropped out of high school after a couple of years, and worked on the rubbish truck, emptying garbage cans into the truck.
The other option is that Dr Pringle was awarded an “honorary” doctorate.
Nominally, these are given to individuals who have made substantial contributions to their field and the honorary doctorate is a recognition of that fact. They are given out at the discretion of the institution.

I’ve never heard him ask to be called Dr, just saying I also have friends that go to the college and they don’t call him Dr
He himself, puts Doctor on some of his books and has allowed people to call him Doctor when they choose. He claims to also have a doctorate.
He used to get called “Doctor” quite a bit, but that doesn’t seem to have been the case for a while now. I think he realised that people had woken up to the deception, and even he could appreciate how bad that made him look.
He’s a man of average intelligence who wants to be perceived as being bright. It’s a symptom of his deep-seated insecurities, which themselves spring from the shallowness of whatever relationship may have with God. It’s all rather sad.

I was in the actual service when it was announced Phil Pringle had received his doctorate. Simon McIntyre made the announcement towards the end of the service, and it was a pretty big deal. Phil made out like he didn’t want a fuss made over it but from then on, was referenced as “Dr Pringle” by staff and others. This would have been 98 or 99, I can’t exactly recall.

if Pringle has truly earned a doctorate in theology, why is he a theological novice? why does he demonstrate precious little theological knowledge, why does demonstrate no discernment, why is he apparently unfamiliar with even the most basic themes of scripture, why does he consistently twist scripture and take individual verses of scripture out of context (even a first year seminary student learns the basis of a proper biblical hermeneutic and has it drummed into them not to ‘cherry pick’ verses of scripture), why does he demonstrate no ability to properly preach in an expository manner instead of turing the bible into some repository of narccissistic little platitudes like Aesop’s Fables or a silly sentimental “footprints in the sand” Hallmark card, why does he embrace, promote, and teach heretical and damning Word of Faith doctrine, why does he allow the WoF and NAR wolves (i.e. KONG HEE at the conference a few days ago (d i s g r a c e f u l)) into the pulpit to devour his “flock”, why…….etc…..
the reason is, he is a fraud and if he ever was awarded a ‘doctorate’ (by whatever means imaginable), it is an absolute canard and the institution that allowed it to happen should hang thier head in shame, Pringle should step down from his CEO role, stop calling himself a pastor and associating his activities with the biblical & historic Christian faith, give back all of the money he has fleeced from the flock over the years, grow a very long beard, invest in a baseball cap and sunglasses, repent and be forgiven and go and sit ‘quietly’ at the back of a biblical church under the ministry of a real biblical pastor for the rest of the term of his natural life…….

Hi. I am studying at NCIU doing a Ph.D. with the german extension center. All my mentors here are fully recognised german/european doctors. After I will defend the Thesis it will be published. My M.A. is from Columbia International University 2003 (SACS). I found the requirements were very hard. I wrote it in german, and many people e.g. the german sports university in cologne is very interested in my interdisciplinary subject. I understand that in the US are many bible colleges “unaccredited” but most of them have good quality. Even Fuller around 2005 would have granted me access to their programm. One year costs would have been around 30.000 Dollars. So maybe you get an idea why some people want to study but have some reasons why not to enroll in the world class universities. Can I be proud of the title? The German

I would like to see this blog answer all questions and issues addressing the church today, with respect, including the person of Phil Pringle. He is a husband, a father, a grandfather and these are areas of his life that are above reproach.
We need to critique the man’s ministry and it’s impact in the church world today, rather than the man himself. We need to hold ourselves to the same standard we expect of others.
Personally, I am sure he “believes” what he’s doing is of God. The bible clearly, proves, along with many other ministries in the world today, he is deceived. And we are all a “scripture twist” away from being in the same boat.
Oliver, there has been a lot of investigation into his doctorate. I think we can safely say he has not done or achieved anything to the standard you have applied to achieving your goals. Money would not be an issue, I’m sure, when it comes to paying for a theological education if he wished to pursue one from a reputable seminary.

Bill Johnson is part of the group that has endorsed Todd Bentley’s restoration to public ministry, along with his new trophy “prophetic – I see elephants” wife (former nanny of his children), after a year in the “wilderness” of repentance?
Phil Pringle seems not to know how to deal with a little problem called “leaven” –
1 Cor 5:6 “……don’t you know a little leaven affects the whole batch of dough?”
And as for what we see in the church today, it appears that we are not allowed to be critical (Berean) of abberant ministers/ministries but rather we are to embrace them?
Good idea Oliver…it could be abreviated to M.Ph.D. Berean money may not be an object but is he prepared to put the blood, sweat and tears into it like everyone else has to? As someone else has pointed out he has been gifted a doctorate for false teachings, pulpit pimping and blatant scamming not to mention his pagan Easter egg act and his Catholic style crucifying of Jesus afresh.

Initially did he set out to deceive? I don’t believe so. Not from what we saw in the early life at C3. We were all caught up in a definite lack of doctrinal integrity. Your perspective in NZ prior to his arrival in Australia is another story.
Agree that Ps. Charmley is a force to be reckoned with :), but it seems that an early “twitter'” put paid to Pringle’s view of critics (especially accurate and Godly ones).
True, Phil could manipulate the money for tuition fees out of the sheeple in one offering. Just show some starving children in Africa or India and the dumb sheeple will empty their wallets.
I believe you’re right about not starting out to deceive. However Phil never had any bible training like Gervase Charmley for example has had. The Bartons, whilst from time to time having a few good teaching sermons, were basically evangelists and the AOG only wanted to employ them as such. The AOG recognized their calling.However the Bartons fancied themselves as pastors and dragged the Pringles into the whirlwind. Yonathon who posts on here actually has more insight than myself about the AOG. He has good insight prior to when I arrived. Actually I’m glad Yonathon came into this site to comment because I was beginning to think I was the only one left from those days. God used Yonathon to bring me back down to earth! he he he.There are still 400 prophets that haven’t bowed down to Baal! Anyway I don’t have an axe to grind…I am just a believer saved by grace and don’t need to prove anything to the world!
@ Gary – I attended a C3 Bible College many years ago. Even then, it was a stretch for students to pay fees. At the time, the pastors were the “lecturers”.
An example of “sound” teaching on the part of one? The study of predestination – lecturer’s erudite teaching? “That’s a tough subject, imagine walking through a door and looking back & seeing a sign over the door on this side, saying ‘predestined’…” Case closed, subject covered, let’s move on to another topic.
Assignments? Did a lot of those – marked in the mid to high 90% with 100% for major work on Joshua. A few years ago, I dug them out and threw them away, realising that had I been marked by a professor at, let’s say, Moore College, I would have had a resounding “FAIL”.
Does the ego/flesh good to think you’re a walking “biblical genius” (until you line yourself up against the Word of God – ouch!!)
Later on I did the year-long counselling course, convinced by leaders I was perfect for the “job”. Told by the principal (hereslf a psychologist) that the Holy Spirit told her that I must be accepted to do the course…hmmmmm. (more ego-stroking)
Put to work with people whose lives were falling apart, totally unqualified to deal with such tragic situations, I “resigned”, telling them that I’m more of an encourager than a counsellor. There are people (not many) gifted for counselling and wouldn’t deny its effective role when used in a proper environment.
This particular section of the College (now no longer operating) was allowing people to enrol who were more in need of counselling than to be counsellors! We had to dissuade the principal of enrolling one particular girl, totally unqualified, yet this same principal claimed the Holy Spirit tells her who to enroll???????
From what I’ve been told, there are outside lecturers coming in now, more qualified to teach in the current Bible College, and I would be interested to hear someone’s view on that, in light of their experience attending in the last few years.
Well…….colour me skeptical but I wont be holding my breth for the day that the C3 Biebul Skool of finger-painting is even capable of boasting its first convert let alone bible scholar….

Phil was always on the take and as long as you towed the line you got places in the heirachy until he left when his money supply a la Dennis and Barbra Barton were dumped from the church pastorship…….cult of personality issues that Phil followed.
Seems a shame that his teachings and departure created a vacuum that was filled by Boddy and Daryl Reeves etc. who ran the young peoples group that led to maariages
that later failed in the majority of cases and infidelities that followed when they crossed the ditch in the great Spritual migration to Austalia where their corrupt both financially ethically and moraly behaviiur continued
I would also suggest that looking at C3 issues one only has to look at the affliations of the Kiwi pastors of C3 churches to see they come out of the Jesus movement that Pringle was in charge of in Christchurch, the Sydenham AOG and Peter Morrows creation of the New Life Centre where the get the money and run philosopy came from.
Unfortunately spritual migration seems to come after a number of years in the money controlled churches and then they slinter off and form new cults and find new vulnerables to fleece.

I was saved before Phil and also witnessed the Barton/Pringle circus in action. Unfortunately the leopard (Pringle) hasn’t changed its spots and he still gracariously needs his ego fed day by day.

I thank God that He prevented me from being sucked in by the Spiritual Bermuda triangle of Barbara & Dennis Barton and Pringle.
Pringle started out with preaching absolute garbage at Hebron House-the guy had only been saved a couple of weeks and he’s preaching???
Right at the beginning Pringle scammed a free wedding and honeymoon out of the church and once again the leopard hasn’t changed its spots. BTW the money used was money the flock had given to the Lord for “God’s work”.
The Bartons effectively were kicked out by God. They were removed from the church by democratic vote that was fair and equitable. Each member of the church voted as they believed God was showing them in their heart.I believe that God needed to get rid of them and the Pringle fiasco before the whole church was shipwrecked.

It is worth amplifying what Pringle’s diploma mill wrote on their website:
“NCIU is a “user focused” institution that exists to serve the needs of the end-users, not simply to perpetuate knowledge for the sake of knowledge. Our chief end is to glorify God and Him alone in all that we do.”
This would explain why Pringle doesn’t want “intellectual idiots” in his church. They would easily expose him as a passionately stupid one.
Idiocy In High Places?
It is of our opinion, as explored in the article above, Pringle purposely does not encourage people to use their minds but their emotions. This leaves people open for manipulation within the C3 church environment.
C3 Leader: Move Away From The “Emotional Moment Of A Service” To Give Money
This is the only way Phil Pringle can exercise spiritual authority and power over people. If they show any expertise or greater knowledge of the scriptures then Pringle, it’s no wonder they are often victimised, pressured to leave, bullied or demonised by the teachings, behaviour and tactics of Phil Pringle. I came across this blog by accident. I am in the early process of starting a fully accredited bible college. Why? Because many of the fully accredited bible colleges here produce students that are an embarrassment to a holy God. I literally have people begging for a real college that will not make them bankrupt. This article reminded me why I am doing this labor.

Is “Doctor” Phil Pringle really a doctor?
Well let’s check Wikipedia – surely if Phil has a genuine doctorate, someone from among his legions of faithful lapdogs will have ensured that his qualification is listed there. Oh, oh! Nothing at all in wikipedia about Phil having a doctorate! We can read about his OAM, but nothing about any doctorate, nothing about any degree, and in fact nothing about his education at all (I know that Phil went to some art school in New Zealand, but apparently he didn’t learn much during his time there).
There has obviously been a terrible, terrible oversight here.
Hey Phil, are you still following this site? You better get one of your minions to update wikipedia pronto! Otherwise, people might suspect that CW is right, and that your so-called doctorate is as fake as the prosperity gospel that gets pushed at C3 week in and week out. Perhaps you’ve got a faithful sheepdog who can do the job for you (can sheepdogs type?)
Pringle dropped out of high school and became a garbage collector, working on the rubbish trucks in Christchurch. He’s a dummie.

The only thing Phil Pringle learned how to ‘draw’ at art school was a big, fat, undeserved pension from unsuspecting congregants.
From my recollections of the AOG days and subsequent years in NZ, Pringle didn’t attend art school. When he was first saved Wayne Tyndall, Pringle and myself all painted pictures that were bought by members of the church. Pringle is useless with real art.Think about it logically-the rubbish he paints could be done by a ten year old child.

Check out Pringle’s very own biography at http://philpringle.com/about-phil-pringle – there is no mention of a Doctorate, which is quite surprising, given that he is ever-ready to trumpet his so-called gifts and achievements to the entire world.
Pringle states that “I also love to write […]”, which is quite ironic when you notice that the first paragraph of his biography refers to him in the third person, and the second paragraph is inexplicably written in the first person. Clearly Pringle’s writing is the same as his “preaching” – he loves to do it, but he is completely clueless as to how he should go about it. He’s not even smart enough to hire someone to vet the stuff he publishes – anyone who’s been to primary school would be able to spot the inconsistencies and errors in his work.
Poor old Phil is a big man who doesn’t have an intellect to match – no wonder he has such a marked inferiority complex, and that he is so touchy about being called out over his many egregious errors. I suppose he can take solace in the fact that soon he will be able to retire into the total obscurity that he so richly deserves, at which time he will be able to live out the remainder of his days in relative comfort thanks to all that money he has . Too bad it’s other people’s money, eh Phil?
