Sunday 8 April: Easter services with met Tommy Tenney
On 8 April Tommy Tenney will be with us for our 10:30 am and 7 pm Sunday Easter Services. A great event to invite your friends to.
About Tommy Tenney
Tommy Tenney is the author of the multimillion-selling The God Chasers series. He recently began writing fiction and has a new involvement as Hollywood movie producer. Tommy has been able to reach millions of people through the movie: ‘One Night with the King.’ He also has a series on a fictional account of the ancient story of Queen Esther. His latest venture into fiction involves the beautiful Biblical story of Ruth with the book titled: ‘The Road Home’.
Tommy has written over 30 books. His writing has been translated into more than 40 languages and nominated for many awards including the “Gold Medallion Award” and “Retailers Book of the Year.”
Tommy spent 10 years pastoring and has spent over 30 years in itinerant ministry, traveling to more than 50 nations. He typically speaks in over 150 venues each year sharing his heart with many thousands. GodChasers television ministry is seen in over 120 nations on many different networks. His ministry website www.godchasers.net is viewed on average by more than one million people per month.
It is troubling that C3 Amsterdam is heavily promoting Tommy Tenney for their easter service and his resources. It is important we understand just who Tommy Tenney actually is. Charisma magazine writes,
“He was raised in the United Pentecostal Church (UPC), a denomination that often has been criticized for its strict standards of dress and conduct and for its requirements that converts be baptized in Jesus’ name rather than in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. He left the group, he says, when he realized that he “couldn’t enforce some of the views” of the UPC — including rules that to this day forbid pastors in the group from owning televisions. Because Tenney honors his spritual heritage, and because his parents are prominent leaders in the UPC in Louisiana, some people become suspicious of his theology when they learn about his background.” - Charisma, March, 2000, p.55.
Much has been written on Tommy Tenney’s cult connections to the Oneness Pentecostal or United Pentecostal Church (UPC) movements who deny the trinity.
We wish to point you to a stack of resources from Christian writers, ministers and teachers. The below link reveals that Tommy Tenney has his connections to the UPC cult; teaches anti-trinitarian doctrines that oppose the Christian faith; devalues the Word of God; carries an offensive tone against faithful ministers who preach the bible; twists scripture; is quick to call unity between different Christians while hiding his spots plus many other issues. This link also exposes the error in Tenney’s material which C3 Amsterdam is promoting.

Why is C3 Amsterdam allowing a heretic to speak at their easter service? Does Steve Warren know that the early church excommunicated false teachers who believe the heretical doctrines that the UPC promote?
Why is C3 inviting a man to speak who does not hold to the Christian faith?
NOTE: ALL SCREEN GRABS WERE TAKEN BEFORE 05/04/2012

Hahaha! I just ran across this in a Google search for Pastor Tenney’s website. Is this real, or is like a Christian version of The Onion? This is why the church (the body of Christ; Christians) are weakening in the eyes of the world. This website should be called Talk of the Pharisees. Why would you devote a website to tearing down your brothers and sisters in Christ? It is not your job to pass judgment on these people, that is God’s job. Your job (and the job of every Christian) is to continue to speak the word of God; the truth. Get it together, Pharisees. You are allowing the devil to divide the church just as it has been prophesied in the bible. Don’t allow yourself to become offended by what I say, look it up. Ask the Holy Spirit to provide you guidance, and remove yourself from your own personal opinions and beliefs. They will lead you astray.

” Get it together, Pharisees.”
I’ll take it as though your dressed up use of the word ‘pharisees’, that you are refering to members of an ancient Jewish sect noted for their strict obedience to Jewish traditions.
If this is the case then you should,”See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.(Colossians 2:8)”
Does seem as though Tenney is the one relying on rules taught by men.
Does the church have all her doctrine together? More importantly, does one distinct stream of Christianity have all the doctrines together? The speech of another’s beliefs should be done in graciously and not maliciously.
I have found it to be my experience that not everybody has full comprehension of every single subject within scripture. People sometimes have trouble understanding covenant or prayer or sacrifice or election or evil or theodicy or [fill in the blank] and they make the best decisions that they can with what they know. In this instance, Tommy Tenney comes from a oneness background and is most likely the result of his father’s influence. Does this make his doctrine right? No. Should this be a reason for us to make him an object of scorn? No. If that is the case, God would have even MORE right to destroy us all.
When Jesus called on the disciples, did they have it all together? Did they KNOW doctrine? Did they understand fully what Jesus was about? The answer was an outright no. And even when Jesus taught them, discipled them, had them walk beside him during his sojourns, his disciples still did not fully understand them. But yet, did He reject them? Did He stop them from approaching Him? Did He kick them out of His circle of closest friends?
I understand this blog is set up as a watchkeeper of C3; I personally am not affliated with C3 in any way. However, as a doctrine scrutinizer, might I ask what the site’s moderator(s) beliefs on the trinity are? How does Church Watch think of the Nicene Creed? And what is Church Watch’s understanding of the interellationship between the 3 persons of the Godhead? What is Church Watch’s position on the filioque clause? Do you see Jesus as the fount or God the father as the fount?
And even so with Gary MacDougall, what is your basis for the trinity? How do you back that up within scripture if the word trinity itself is not a scriptural term but was later written by Tertullian? What do you think about this same theologian, Tertullian, being a strong proponent of Apostolic Succession (which is what the Roman Catholic Church states is lacking in Protestant Churches)?
Those are all legitimate questions of mine to the both of you that I would like to have a conversation because I am geniunely interested at this point.
“Tommy Tenney comes from a oneness background and is most likely the result of his father’s influence.”
There’s no doubt whatsoever that Tenney is influenced by his father, who is the very same one who was father to those Pharisees and teachers of the law who opposed Jesus, and who ultimately conspired to have Him put to death.
Yes, Tenney is a true son of the father of lies, and so his spirit sits quite comfortably with the spirits of those who run C3.
As followers of Christ, we hold each other accountable. And as such, I end with this -
Be careful… be very careful. I am not saying that we do not judge others, but even in the judging of others that you mention in your “LoveIs What Exactly…” needs to be done with mercy and reconciliation in mind first rather than with a brazen zealousness for truth. The first question should first be, “How can I be a peacemaker rather than an antoganist of the Gospel?” What right do we have from keeping people from God, even those who have wrong doctrine? Should we not first attempt to converse with them, state what we find wrong with their doctrine and why, let them respond, understand their response, all of these things in a cordial fashion, rather than hastily use the term ex-communication?
We are called to a ministry of reconciliation, even with that of our enemies, to pray for them and not to call hell fire on them. Even in the chastisment by Apostle Paul, in the handing over of some to the devil (1 Cor. 5:5), it was done so with the intention of reconciliation.
Church Watch, you speak about the excommunication that occured within the early church; there was an abuse of it. The very same followers who believed in the trinity excommunicated the followers of Arius school of thought and vice versa. Both followers and non-followers of the trinity excommunicated one another when they were in power… same thing happens between the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church… same thing happened between the Church of England and the Church of Rome… same thing has happened between Pentecostal and Non-Pentecostal churches… same thing has happened to sex offenders… to people who have had pre-marital affairs… to people who have stolen… story after story of churches that practice this excommunication either actively or covertly. It’s not just an early church practice.
In addtion, what is your understanding of this passage?
“Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister[d] or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?” – James 4:11-12
